In addition to performing Julie is a passionate teacher and vocal coach. She is the founder and director of the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music. She is an active member of the Association of Manitoba Arts Festivals (AMAF) and frequent adjudicator of competitions. Julie has been a longtime member of Manitoba Music and frequent judge of the Western Canadian Music Awards and Canada’s biggest Music awards – The Junos.

In 1999, Julie completed her Master of Music in Voice and Opera Studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, following an undergraduate degree in music and education from Minot State University in North Dakota. She has studied extensively abroad.
